We’re on a mission to give books to every school-aged child in Napa County.

Our Books4Kids program was created to provide free books to kids who need them. Having access to books both at home and in the classroom is essential for kids starting their literacy journey, but not all children have equal access to books. Through Books4Kids, we provide free books to first-graders in Napa County schools and help set them up for success both in the classroom and in life.

In 2023-2024, we’re giving books to 500+ first-graders across 8 schools in Napa County, but we need your support!

We want to get these kids free books because:

  • Studies show that 61% of children growing up in under-resourced households do not have access to any age-appropriate books at home,

  • 54% of our student population here in Napa County come from under-resourced households,

  • Children who are not reading at grade-level by the end of third grade are four times less likely to graduate high school on time,

  • In a a research study of 42 countries, the quantity of books in homes was the second most important predictor of reading performance,

  • The number one learning tool educators need to continue supporting their kids are physical books and resources,

  • 80% of educators cited books as an item they currently need.

  • And because nothing is better than fostering a love of books and reading in children!

Please consider a gift of $10, $25, $50, or $100 today to supply the books these kids need to succeed in school and life.

Thank you for your support. It means the world to the students and teachers and to us here at Napa Bookmine Literary Foundation!
