Educator Resources

NBLF Book Lists by Grade/Age - We’ve put together lists of some of our favorite books for each grade level/age. These books feature diverse characters and encourage resilience, kindness, and community. We’ve included both the English and Spanish editions wherever possible. Use these lists as a reference when requesting books for your classroom and students!

Anti-racism Resources - This document is intended to serve as a resource to white people and parents to deepen our anti-racism work. If you haven’t engaged in anti-racism work in the past, start now. Feel free to circulate this document on social media and with your friends, family, and colleagues. (Document compiled by Sarah Sophie Flicker, Alyssa Klein in May 2020.)

Epic! - Free digital books! Epic is the leading digital reading platform—built on a collection of 40,000+ popular, high-quality books from 250+ of the world’s best publishers—that safely fuels curiosity and reading confidence for kids 12 and under. Free for educators.

Great Minds - Knowledge-driven, research-based instructional resources proven to work for all learners, including but not limited to striving readers, students with dyslexia and English language learners.

KidLit TV - KidLit TV's virtual library includes tutorials, read-alouds, podcasts and other activities, including reading resources.

Resources for Justice and Peace (National Writing Project) - “Scholars, teachers, and activists working together through networks such as #BlackLivesMatter and #educolor, have created resources and updated reading lists for educators to use both in their teaching, and perhaps more significantly, in our own journey toward anti-racism. Given that the majority of public school educators are white women, many of these resources are tailored toward that audience. We don’t need to wait for a workshop or call on our colleagues of color to facilitate our journey. We can just get started.”

Teach for America - Teach for America has developed an extensive database of resources to support teachers and students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit their curriculum resources and online teaching support.

Write Center - Free webinars on literacy, specifically teaching culturally and historically responsive literacy during a global pandemic, social unrest, and economic uncertainty.
